Windsor Light Music Theatre Scores Big For 126th Show!
Broadway comes to Windsor once again, as WLMT is thrilled to
present Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, the first production of its kind to appear
in the Windsor/Detroit area. Being
the first to secure the rights to perform SPAMALOT is an exciting coup for the group and marks the 126th show
produced by the Windsor Light Music Theatre.
Audiences all around the world have been roaring with laughter since Monty Python’s SPAMALOT won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005. SPAMALOT tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention flying cows, killer rabbits and taunting French guards. The show features fantastic tunes which are catchier than the plague: He Is Not Dead Yet; Knights of the Round Table; Find Your Grail and of course, Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
Eric Idle, a member of the Monty Python team, wrote the
musical's book and lyrics and collaborated with John Du Prez on most of the
music.
Formerly called The Windsor
Light Opera Association, The Windsor Light Music Theatre was founded by Dr.
John H. L. Watson in 1948, and the company has continued their long tradition
of producing two musical productions every year since, without fail.
Originally, the shows were performed on the Walkerville Collegiate stage, until
they moved them to the Chrysler Theatre in 1960.
“WLMT has a long and rich
history of providing Southwestern Ontario with what we believe is the best in
Broadway-style live musical entertainment. It is a tremendous achievement for us
to present SPAMALOT as our we approach our 65th anniversary,” states WLMT President
Jack McGarry.
