Mike The Knight Tour Visits Windsor March 12, 2015

Koba Entertainment recently announced its newest theatrical production Mike the Knight™ in the Great Scavenger Hunt will bring a thrilling mix of adventure, comedy, music, song, puppets, dance – plus a little bit of magic – to Windsor at the Chrysler Theatre on March 12.

Based on the popular CG-animated series from HIT Entertainment and Nelvana, Mike the Knight in the Great Scavenger Hunt takes audiences on an interactive and eye-opening adventure for the whole family complete with an enchanting world of medieval castles, plucky trolls and flying dragons. Tickets are on sale now and are available through the Chrysler Theatre box office, online at Chryslertheatre.com or by phone at 1-800-387-9181.

Mike the Knight in the Great Scavenger Hunt unfolds during the Glendragon Scavenger Hunt, where the young knight is determined to discover the most knightly way to tackle his chivalrous quest. Joined by his closest friends Sparkie and Squirt (a pair of quirky dragons), his valiant friend Trollee and his wizard-in-training sister Evie, the stakes are high as the cheerful yet bountiful Mike the Knight leads audiences on his bravest mission yet.

“I am excited to forage with Mike the Knight on this medieval scavenger hunt,” says award-winning choreographer and director, Patti Caplette. “And while chivalry and wizardry reign in Mike’s world of castles and kings, I want to convey that kids are kids, and Mike and his friends may have to be reminded to ‘Be a knight and do it right!’"

The live show is based on the animated series broadcast in more than 120 territories. In each episode of the animated series, preschoolers follow Mike the Knight on a mission to protect his kingdom and become a fully-fledged knight. Mike discovers the power of responsibility and doing tasks and activities the right way. Along the way, he reminds viewers of his motto: "Be a knight, do it right!"  The live show encourages independence, self-confidence and problem solving while inspiring kids to engage imaginations with dress-up and pretend play.

Koba Entertainment’s Mike the Knight in The Great Scavenger Hunt is among the producer’s long list of original stage shows, including Toopy and Binoo: Fun and Games, Dora the Explorer: Search for the City Of Lost Toys and Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite. Mike the Knight in the Great Scavenger Hunt’s creative team features Caplette, writer Jennifer Beasley, composer Olaf Pyttlik, and scenic coordinator Jason Robbins.

Attention Dentists and Dental Hygienists, Rotary Needs You!

Rotary District 6400 Seeks Dental Professionals for

Vocational Training Team

Heading to the Island of Timor-Leste (North of Darwin, Australia)

Are you a dentist or dental hygienist?  Do you have a passion to help and teach others in your profession?  Rotary District 6400, which includes Rotary clubs in southwest Ontario and southeast Michigan, invites you to consider joining its Vocational Training Team (VTT) headed to Timor-Leste in Maritime Southeast Asia in May 2015.

The Vocational Training Team is a Rotary-sponsored exchange that enables professionals to utilize their training and skills to assist a less developed county. Participating Rotary Districts provide transportation, housing and food for the team during the exchange.   Team members are expected to provide training in their profession in the host district.

Timor-Leste is an island country just north of Darwin, Australia.  A former colony of Portugal, it is one of the world’s newest countries, achieving independence in 1975.  Between 1975 and 2002, war with Indonesia ravaged the country until the United Nations and Australian forces brought order.  Today, Timor-Leste is rebuilding, and one of its desperate needs is dental professionals.

The University of Dilli has been training dental professionals and is seeking help to complete their training.  Rotary District 9550, which includes Timor-Leste, has requested District 6400’s help with a VTT to provide training.  Members of 6400’s VTT will travel to Dilli, the capitol of Timor-Leste in early May 2015 and stay for 3 weeks.  During that time, they will help staff from the University of Dilli with training dental students.  When possible, team members will join students in mobile clinical work to prepare them for post-graduate placement.

Rotary will cover all costs of transportation, housing, food and dental supplies during the exchange.  Team members will be asked to pay for their own passports, inoculations and personal expenses.  Team members are also asked to prepare a final report on the exchange and to speak to Rotary Clubs about the program and their participation.

In terms of participation, the VTT is open to dentists and dental hygienists who are willing to spend three weeks in Timor- Leste, teaching their profession and helping students learn.

Participation is open to Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike.  Rotary District 6400 will select a team of five professionals based upon applicants’ professional experience and interest in international service.

For more information about Rotary District 6400 and to obtain an application, visit http://www.rotary6400.org/ or contact District 6400 VTT Co-chair Howard Andrews by email at hwandrews@wowway.com or call 734-728-4697.  Applications must be submitted no later than March 19, 2015.  Final interviews will be scheduled shortly thereafter.
