After
a seemingly endless winter and uncertain spring, it’s finally time to start
thinking about outdoors and summer fun. Here’s some great news to get you
thinking about the good times just ahead.
Windsor’s eagerly anticipated, hands-down
favorite summer event – Art In The Park 2014 – is just around the corner!
Under
the auspices of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918), the 36th edition of Art In
The Park will be held on the grounds of Willistead Manor on Saturday and
Sunday, June 7 – 8, 2014.
But
the fun really begins on the eve of the show -- on Friday evening, June 6. For
the third consecutive year, AITP organizers will host a lively, fun-filled Art
In The Park Launch Party in the park beginning at 6 p.m.
Just
like last year, this year’s kickoff event will feature a toe-tapping country
theme. The music begins at 6:30 p.m. in Art In The Park’s epicentre - -the
Spirit Tent.
First
to take the stage will be Danielle Denholm – our very own Karaoke winner from
last year’s hugely successful AITP launch party.
Next
up – the Mike Ure Band – a popular local country music band that will take to
the stage at 8 p.m.
The
headliner at this year’s kickoff event is the hottest new country duo out of
Toronto – Autumn Hill, performing at 9:30 p.m.
This Canadian duo was recently nominated for a Juno for “Breakthrough
Artist of the Year.” We know you have
heard their hits on the radio, so come to AIP to see them live!
In
keeping with our down-home country theme, the audience will be able to
participate in some lively line dancing, and Trainer’s Choice will once again
be on-site to outfit patrons in some great country gear.
So
get out those cowboy boots and come kick up your heels for a terrific start for
Windsor’s most beloved outdoor arts event.
Advance
tickets for the Friday night Launch Party are now available online for $15
and will be available at Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU) locations and High
Jinks Indoor Playground within the next two weeks. Tickets purchased at the
Willistead Park gates the night of the event will be $20 each.
Beverages
available at the kickoff event will include fine wines from our regional Erie
Shore and Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards as well as a selection of wines from Pernod
Ricard North America. Beer will be
available from Walkerville’s own Walkerville Brewery, and special mixed drinks
by Hiram Walker & Sons.
Gourmet
food options will also be available, featuring Thai Palace, Mongolian Grill,
the Gourmet Emporium, Spago Trattoria and Ming Wah.
The
gates to the Art In The Park outdoor arts and crafts exhibition and sale will
open to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7th till 7 p.m. and again on
Sunday, June 8th from 10 a.m till 5 p.m.
