Financial Literacy Week Oct 30 to Nov. 5, 2011

Financial Literacy Week gets Canadians talking about money and math to help increase knowledge and confidence when working with personal financial issues!

Canadians need to get talking about money and through local community events, use of online resources and tip sharing pages, and a national online Financial Literacy Week forum, everyone will be able to increase knowledge confidence with their money management skills.

Being celebrated nationally from October 30 – November 5, 2011, Financial Literacy Week is ABC Life Literacy Canada and Founding Sponsor TD Bank Group’s rallying cry for the nation to engage together through activity, dialogue and action ultimately building increased confidence with day-to-day tasks involving money and numbers.

Finances and math should not be a taboo subject. FinancialLiteracyWeek.ca brings Canadians into the financial literacy discussion through engaging content, video posts and useful resources. Be inspired as Canadians rally together and see how one small change adds up!

To support Canadians on their financial learning journey, several key resources have been made available for free online at FinancialLiteracyWeek.ca.

They include:

· Video posts by financial expert Gail Vaz-Oxlade covering topics such as three steps people can take to feel more confident about their money management, saving for kids’ future and opening up and talking about money.

· Three financial literacy week handbooks that can be used by an individual or group to learn about budgeting, borrowing and RESPs.

· An event toolkit perfect to help individuals plan a financial literacy week event of any size.

· Tip sheets and activity pages are also available at www.SmallChangeAddsUp.ca.

The challenge is on to all Canadians to join ABC Life Literacy Canada during this week. Help each other by submitting a financial tip to the website or make a personal promise of a small action you can do that will help increase your skills, knowledge and confidence.
