Help Frank Help Haiti.” On Tuesday, March 9

Windsor Benefit to Raise Funds for Damaged Haitian Orphanage

What does a six foot-two, 240-pound retired detective from the Windsor Police Service do with his spare time? If you’re a people-oriented person named Frank Chauvin, you continue to follow your calling in life and give of yourself to help others.

In 1988, Frank accompanied a physician to Haiti in order to observe first hand, a nation in need. He founded Le Foyer des Filles Chretiennes Orphanage, which has provided shelter, sustenance, hope and faith to hundreds of young girls. The 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010 changed everything. Three 18-year old girls and one worker from the orphanage were killed that day, and the buildings are now declared unsafe for the girls.

The cities of Windsor and Calgary are partnering to “Help Frank Help Haiti.” On Tuesday, March 9, Mayor Eddie Francis and City Council invite you to attend a concert and benefit evening, which will be held at the Giovanni Caboto Club with all proceeds going toward rebuilding and re-establishing the orphanage. The evening will include a silent art auction, musical entertainment, speakers and video presentations. Further details regarding the evening’s program will be released shortly. Calgary will be holding a similar event the following day.

“Frank Chauvin and his colleagues have long since demonstrated that the generous heart of the City of Windsor is open not only to our own citizens but to the world,” said Mayor Eddie Francis. “Now, we can help Frank rebuild this orphanage for the Haitian children who need it so much.”

The event begins at 7:00 p.m. and admission will be $10. For ticket information, please call (519) 255-6550.
