Windsor, ON—The Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) Transitional Board has appointed Elly Johnson, Director of Group Programs and Development as Interim CEO for the organization effective immediately.
Ms. Johnson, a Certified Travel Manager (CTM) has been with TWEPI since the startup as the Director of Group Programs and Development. Her portfolio includes Meetings and Conventions, Leisure Trade, Sports Tourism and Black History. She has worked in various capacities in the travel industry retail, wholesale, tourist board and currently destination marketing organization (DMO). Ms. Johnson’s responsibilities have included tourism management on a national and international level.
The Transitional Board will launch a national search for the CEO position and will begin the recruitment process for the Board of Directors in the coming weeks.
The Transitional Board is led by Mayor Eddie Francis, City of Windsor and Tom Bain, Essex County Warden and supported by Mayor Rick Masse, Pelee Island, Mayor Gary McNamara, Town of Tecumseh, Mayor Nelson Santos, Town of Kingsville, and Windsor City Councillors Drew Dilkens and Percy Hatfield.
