DeStress is the major annual fundraiser which supports The Distress Centre of Windsor-Essex County, a local organization which provides crisis intervention, suicide prevention, emotional support, and community referrals to anyone who calls the Distress Line. The service is available from 12 noon to 12 midnight, 365 days a year, and is available for anyone who needs support and calls the Distress Line at 519-256-5000. The Distress Line is answered by highly trained, dedicated, and caring Phone Volunteers who provide free, confidential, and anonymous emotional support to callers. The Distress Centre, a registered Canadian Charity, is funded primarily by the United Way of Windsor-Essex and depends on fundraisers such as DeStress to help support volunteer education and community outreach efforts.
