Don Henley --Outstanding Performance

Friday night I had the chance to attend the Don Henley concert at Caesars Windsor..what a great show it was! The sold out crowd thought so too and it was obvious as fans cried out "We love you Don" throughout the show and a few of them even danced right at their seats....Now I have never really followed Henley - -  in fact i thought he only had a few songs like "dirty laundry" and "boys of summer" - -  but i was amazed to know almost every song he sang in the 75 minute performance! So many songs and all of them had a meaning behind them that I believe all need to learn...."Forgiveness" especially could teach a few people a lesson that life's too short, don't waste energy on being mad at others --forgive, forget and move on...you only have one life to lead so make it count! Don also reminded me that life passes you by too fast, for that I am a little sad, because that's how i currently feel - - time flies by quickly and the next thing you know you are 80! I know I have to enjoy a little bit more time off! What about you!!!!!
Thanks Don and Caesars Windsor for a wonderful night out..

PS when i first walked into the concert during the opening act there was one very rude man who told the band "they sucked" ...i was very upset with these comments, imagine being the band on stage, how hard it was to stay up there and sing! But this individual is the one that should have stayed home -- all performers coming to our city should be welcomed with open arms..if you dont like them, keep your nasty comments to yourself..the rest of appreciate them coming to Windsor!

Tonight the 2010 Olympic Torchbearer for the Windsor leg of the nationwide relay was named at the city's "Together We Triumph" Gala at Caesars Windsor in the Augustus Ballroom.

And Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis announced that, person would be Matthew Charbonneau.

Who is Matthew Charbonneau you may ask?

You will remember that last year Matthew's older brother Cpl. Andrew Grenon was the first Windsor soldier killed September 3, 2008 fighting to rid the world of terrorism in Afghanistan.

To honour Grenon the City of Windsor has chosen his younger brother Mathew Charbeneau to light the cauldron on day 55 of the nationwide Olympic celebration which will culminate in downtown Windsor at the River front Plaza on December 23.

Cpl. Grenon was only 23 years old and he was a member of the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry serving in Afghanistan. Pictured here are Mathew and his mother Theresa Charbonneau.

The night's announcement included speeches by former Windsor Spitfire and NHL great Adam Graves, Spitfire Head Coach and former NHLer Bob Boughner, Canadian Paralympian Sledge Hockey Gold Medal Champion Ray Grassi, Mayor Eddie Francis and keynote speaker Red Wings Head Coach Mike Babcock.

It was a late night (10pm) for the gala's emcee, AM800's Steve Bell, he joked with the audience he has to get up for work at 3 am...we here at Biz X and In Play just start rocking and rolling then!! its when we get our finest work done!!

We welcome your comments...

Jog 4 Joe--Nov. 15, 2009

Here’s something maybe everyone can help with…”Jog 4 Joe” on November 15th!” Last year on this very same day Brad Byrne lost his father to cancer. He was diagnosed at the end of October, completely unexpected, and less than 3 weeks later he was gone. Treatment was not an option and the speed that it took him was disgusting. Six months later Brad’s son was born and he was a dad for the first time.

It breaks Brad’s heart everyday knowing that his son will never meet his incredible grandpa. Brad wants to help support an organization working to fight this terrible disease right here in our community. Along with supporting the Windsor Essex County Cancer Foundation, Brad will be collecting donations for the food bank to fill the shelves for the upcoming winter.

Do your part, join in the 62 km jog—for part or all of the way…or drop off a canned good to the Lakeshore Community Services Food Bank!
