Soup's ON August 13, 2014

Enactus Windsor and Pathway to Potential are pleased to announce the final four projects for the upcoming Windsor SOUP. The next Windsor SOUP will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 7 pm (doors open at 6 p.m.) at the Walkerville Brewery (525 Argyle Road).

The selected four projects that will be pitching for the next Windsor SOUP include 'The Chari-T’s Project,' a logoed bus service that can be used to attend public events (festivals, farmer’s markets) with the aim of collecting non-perishable food items, hygiene products and cash donations; a community-based 'Drouillard Library,' that can help residents share, exchange and communicate ideas to consider future possibilities of vacant land, demolished properties, and abandoned buildings in their neighbourhood; 'Chateau Masson Renewal Project,' to provide help to the overall revitalization of the Glengarry neighborhood, increase well-being and strengthen the sense of community within the building; and 'Dads Matter Conference,' a collective agencies' conference to bring awareness to the forefront of families and those who work to support their families.

The event will be following the same format; four presenters, each speaking for four minutes, and each presenter will be answering four questions from attendees. With a donation of five dollars at the door, attendants will receive soup and salad donated by Vito's Restaurant and the Charcoal Pit, and get a chance to vote on the creative project that they feel has the most remarkable potential to make a positive impact on the community. Joseph Anthony, a local community guitarist, will be performing at the event.

The last Windsor SOUP on July 9, 2014 was a hit, bringing approximately 200 community members together. At the end of the event, Ryan Donally received the maximum support from voters and won the micro-grant collected through the dinner. The collected donation was matched by P. & L. Odette Charitable Foundation, giving Donally a total of $2000 to get his project started.

Windsor SOUP is moving ahead in an effort of making social change in the community. “It was great to see so many passionate people come together to contribute to the betterment of our community,” said Nick Jones, Enactus team member working on Windsor SOUP.
The upcoming Windsor SOUP will be a regular event, those interested in bringing their workplace to the event can contact Peter Corio at coriop@uwindsor.ca or call 519-996-9903. Windsor SOUP application form can be download by visiting P2P's website.
